The good times seem to roll when we are on vacations or it’s the weekend. But what about when we just roll out of bed? Maybe you’re a morning person, or maybe you aren’t. Either way, making breakfast for the two of you will be a win win. (Morning people will love it, and the non-morning people will be saying “I love you more than sleep” which says a lot. 🙂
When you can make the everyday things sweet, and learn to say “I love you” through them, you’ll discover the essence of becoming Best Loves.
The Everyday. “Just wanted to say I Love You”
Life is complicated enough. This is about as simple as it comes. Toast and eggs is fast, healthy, and pretty inexpensive.
Throw a piece of bread in the toaster, while you cook an egg on the stove. If they’re a fan, over-easy works great! Serve the egg on top of the toast with salt and pepper. You could add avocado, or ham and make it a breakfast sandwich.
For the Love in a hurry! This one says: “Let me make your day just a little bit easier”
We have all had those moments when there just didn’t seem to be quite enough time before you had to head off to class or work. That’s stressful. If you want to be wonder-woman or superman and take one thing off the shoulders of your best love, send them out the door with a filling smoothie. (I am a major green smoothie fan, so this is definitely on the green side… 🙂 )
Basic Green Smoothie: (for two) –Blend in the order given to go easy on your blender.
- 1/2 cup water (you can always add more if it’s too thick, or add milk or almond milk, etc.)
- 3 handfuls of Spinach
- 1 handful of Kale
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- Any fresh fruit — apples, oranges, pineapple (experiment with their favorites)
- Juice from one lemon
- Frozen berries (again the choice is up to you) this will chill it and thicken it up
- Flax seed and/or Protein if you want
With that in their hand, a kiss from you, and you saying that you know they can do it, their morning will go from frantic to feeling loved. 🙂
Let’s Cook together! Eating is mandatory, but your kitchen can become a place where memories are made, and where making breakfast or dinner is something you look forward to. You might even come to love doing the dishes together afterwards…. 🙂
Classic French Toast: “I love being with you the most”
This Recipe comes from Williams-Sonoma’s Bride and Groom Cookbook. I have had it for a few years, and I love it! It dresses up your everyday french toast while keeping it simple.
- 1 loaf french bread (we’re doing the real deal here! 🙂 ) Let it be a day-old so it soaks up the egg mixture better.
- 4 large eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. grated orange zest
- 2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
- 4 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp butter or as needed
Mix everything together, creating a custard-like mixture. Place sliced pieces of bread in and let sit for 15 minutes. (enjoy those 15 minutes of quiet, put on some music and dance or go sit on the porch and enjoy the morning air. Built in quality time–I LOVE IT! 🙂 )Cook on a griddle or frying pan. Top with your favorites: powdered sugar, fruit, jam, honey, Nutella? 🙂 Enjoy!
Are some sweet mornings in your future? Don’t miss the chance to say “I Love You” to your best love.
Haven’t found them yet? Who says you can’t make breakfast for a roommate, or family member? Maybe bring that extra smoothie in for a coworker, or invite a few friends over for some french toast. 🙂
Wishing you the best,
